Fundraising Workshop

By Karen Kubby

Andy Robinson, fundraising guru extrordinaire, is providing a fundraising workshop through the Non Profit Academy of the ISU Extension Service.  I've taken this workshop twice and found it very motivating, educational, and effective.  Its great for both staff and Board members.  The workshop is August 21 from 9am to 4pm in the community room of the Coral Ridge Mall (near the food court).  The cost is $60 (and worth much more!), lunch is on your own.  Call Amy at 337-2145 to register.

Andy has a few books on fundraising and grant writing, as well that are very worthwhile.  A brief description of the workshop and a link to Andy's web site is below:

Eighty-five percent of charitable funds come from individual donors, NOT foundations or corporations.  Learn how to build a fundraising program that honors your mission.  This workshop will cover: why people give away their money; the basic principles of fundraising; raising major gifts through the mail; identifying prospective donors; and "the ask" - face-to-face solicitation.
