WAKE THE MUSE!
By Lisa Schreihart We'd like to invite you to be an important part of a very exciting event January 25-27, 2008. Wake the Muse is an experiential weekend for creative women that will feature workshops focusing on the theme of The Creative Process from Inspiration to Manifestation. Our featured presenter for the weekend is Carol Lynn Pearson who is an accomplished writer and performer. Some of her works include the plays Mother Wove the Morning and Facing East, and the books Consider the Butterfly and No More Goodbyes. She is also a contributing author to the popular series Chicken Soup for the Soul. In addition to the three workshops being led by Ms. Pearson, we would like to offer workshops by other presenters on the topics of Music, Dance, Theater, Visual Arts, Women's Traditions and Crafts, Lifestyle and Small Business or Non-profit Development. We welcome workshop ideas in any of these areas. There are 4 different workshop time lengths; 75 minutes, 90 minutes, 2 hours, 3 hours. We are looking for dynamic, experiential workshops that go beyond the basics. We are not looking for "how-to" classes so much as activities that help participants to take their art or creativity to the next level, to manifest. We want to offer support to women to help them recognize the value of their art and give them tools and resources to bring their work to fruition. Keep this in mind as you develop your workshop. After reviewing your application we may require a simple syllabus or outline for further consideration. We reserve the right to accept or decline any workshop proposal and may ask for adjustments to your plan in order to include your workshop in the schedule. The deadline to apply is September 15, 2007 and we will let you know of our decision by October 1, 2007. PLEASE NOTE: If you are interested in presenting but don't have a clear idea of what you can offer, please call me and we can brainstorm. We are also seeking performance artists for our evening programs on Friday and Saturday during the weekend. If you have a 15-20 minute set you would like to include, please fill out the appropriate portion of the application. The following outlines the compensation schedule for our presenters and performers. One 75 or 90 minute workshop: 1â2 off registration fee ($125) Two 75 or 90 minute workshops: Free event registration One 2 hour workshop & performance: Free event registration One 3 hour workshop: Free event registration If you are accepted for more than one of the combinations listed above, we will discuss compensation with you personally. If you wish to propose more than one workshop or performance, please fill out separate applications for each one. Thank you very much for your time. Sincerely, Sarah Hobart Executive Director Heartland Daughters Productions (515) 664-3784 HeartlandDaughters@gmail.com |
