Friends of Iowa City Pride Flood Info
By Iowa City Pride After much thoughtful discussion the Iowa City Pride committee decided to cancel all our Saturday (June 21) events: the parade, rally and festival. We apologize to those who made special plans to attend or participate in Saturday's events. Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by the floods of 2008. If you registered for table space at the festival, we apologize for the trouble and inconvenience this has caused you. Our community members have missed a great opportunity to visit with your organization, so we hope to see you in June 2009. For those who have already paid for table space, we offer two choices: A full refund. Please supply the (a) refund amount, (b) name to which the refund check should be made out and (c) full postal address to which it should be mailed. Sent the requested information to vendors@queerconnections.org or me. Allow your payment to be a donation to the Iowa City Pride Committee. (Unfortunately we do not have 501(c)3 status, so your donation is not tax-deductible.) If either of these choices is not acceptable, or you have other concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are willing to be flexible and do the right thing by everyone. While the large events have been cancelled out of concern for public safety and transportation issues, our smaller events, and one special event, are still taking place: "Coming Out" to Help Out Community Between the sandbagging and the clean up, The Iowa City Pride Committee would like to invite everyone to a fundraiser to assist local flood recovery efforts this Friday evening from 6 - 9 p.m. on the second floor patio of the Iowa City Sheraton Inn. Come out and show your pride in our community by pledging to volunteer your time and/or money. We will be listening to The Recliners on the Ped Mall. Free appetizers and a cash bar will be provided.
