Good News Out of North Carolinaby Max Mattia, DFNC
Max Mattia is a Deaniac and impressive state group grassroots organizer in North Carolina. Several months ago, Alta and I were on a phone call with a number of other people from Iowa and Max happened to be on that call. He's really got it together, so of course, Alta and I were trying to figure out how we could get him to move to Iowa. No luck in that department, I'm afraid. However, he may be right where he is needed most. Read this update I got from him last night. You need to get your hopes up that we CAN do this thing? Max offers up some great local political analysis that may have a major impact on the race for the presidency.
We are kicking major *ss in Wake County and Durham here in North Carolina. Our grassroots are mobilizing like they never have before. Daily canvassing of target precincts, massive reachout to the Latino and African American community. Registering new Dems at an unprecedented rate. Hundreds of volunteers coming out of the woodwork.
Political analysts believe that if Wake County [goes Democrat] by 15% that Dems will win NC, and if Dems win NC it is near impossible for Bush to win the electoral college, and if Bush can't win electoral college votes ... then fiascos like Florida don't matter.
So ... preventing Florida from happening again is in the volunteer hands of Wake County!!!
