Fair Trade study grants for jr high/high school teachers
By Kathy Roeder Sam's Club, Café Bom Dia (a Brazilian coffee company) and non-profit TransFair USA are sponsoring expenses-paid study grants for 10 junior high and high school teachers to travel to Brazil's tropical coffee country and learn about the Fair Trade coffee farming and trade industries. The ten winning teachers will visit Fair Trade farms, cooperatives and community schools in July 2008. Study grant winners will be chosen for creative ideas on bringing lessons from the trip back to the classroom. Economics, international trade, globalization, human rights, etc are all relevant lessons that could come from this study grant experience. All the rules and application details are at www.samsclub.com/fairtrade. Please help us get out the word on this amazing opportunity to experience fair trade and share its lessons with students.
