The Ask the Candidates training will provide you the opportunity to:

Learn about Darfur from the experts

Gain important advocacy skills

Discuss the best ways to highlight Darfur for candidates and the media

Develop a plan of action to ensure Darfur becomes a central issue during the Iowa Caucuses!

You will receive background and training on topics such as:

Darfur policy and situation analysis

Engaging presidential candidates on a local level

Best practices for working with local print and online media

The development of a unified message and action plan to make Darfur a political priority

You will also have the chance to network with other local activists and campaign representatives at a reception following the training.

Don't know much about Darfur? Don't worry!
This training is for beginners, veteran activists and everyone in between. To ensure that each participant gets the maximum benefit from the training, there will various workshops suited to each person's level of knowledge, interests and expertise.

Train the Trainers
For those who have already been active on Darfur, there will be holding a "Train the Trainers" program, which will begin on the evening of Friday, Sept. 7th and conclude on the afternoon of Sunday, Sept. 9th. This program will provide guidance on how to run similar trainings throughout Iowa and generate support during the caucuses.
