Subject: URGENT: Medicaid Debate Today at 4:00 PM

Friends,
We just got word — the Iowa House of Representatives will be debating the Governor’s Medicaid proposal at 4:00 p.m. today.

Here’s how you can help:

1. Watch the debate online by clicking here (video will be live starting at 4:00)
2. Visit healthiestiowa.com to share your story about Medicaid expansion. We will be sending them to legislators regularly!
3. Tweet about the debate! Click here to tweet or copy/paste one of these facts about the Governor’s faulty plan. Be sure to use the hashtag #ialegis and #healthieststate. Legislators and reporters follow twitter during session, it’s a place where we can have a real impact!

Medicaid expansion will create more than 2,000 new jobs. Why don’t @TerryBranstad and the House understand that? #ialegis #healthieststate
The House is trying to raise our property taxes AND cover fewer Iowans! #ialegis #healthieststate
Iowa hospitals unanimously support Medicaid expansion. Why doesn’t @TerryBranstad or the House? #ialegis #healthieststate

We all know what’s at stake in tonight’s debate and as the legislature moves forward considering Medicaid expansion. This should not be about politics. Instead it should be about the thousands and thousands of Iowans who need care.

No matter what the outcome of the debate tonight in the House of Representatives, we will keep you informed and updated to take further action.

Thank you for all you do,
The Healthiest Iowa Initiative Team

P.S. If you haven’t already, be sure to share your “Voices for Medicaid” as part of our ongoing effort to tell legislators and decision makers the real impact of expansion.
