A Brief Note on ALEC

A Brief Note on ALEC

by Dave Bradley

This has been a very busy time for my family. Therefore, I have been a bit remiss in pursuit of the story on ALEC. However, John Nichols of the Nation magazine has been extremely busy. The past couple weeks he has received and released to the public a huge amount of documents that go into great detail concerning the aims and strategies of ALEC.

The results of Mr. Nichols work can be seen here:

On July 21st, Terry Gross interviewed John Nichols on her NPR show Fresh Air. This interview is very, very enlightening. The interview is very revealing. It last about 30 minutes. Thirty minutes that will really help clear up many questions you may have about why the states seem to have taken such a right turn.

You may note that there is also an interview with the National Chair of Alec during the same broadcast.

ALEC needs to be a MAJOR issue in next year’s state legislative campaigns. Every Republican needs to answer if they are ALEC members or approve of their legislation. If they are, do they truly understand the aims of ALEC?
