Public Hearing on Bill to End Collective Bargaining

A public hearing has been scheduled for HSB 117 that will end collective bargaining and take away rights from police officers, fire fighters, state troopers, teachers, and prison guards.

[Editor's note: In an AP story today, Branstad denied that it was his intention to end collective bargaining, but admitted he does have other plans for workers: Branstad said he'll "push state worker unions to make big changes to a contract that was bargained with his predecessor, Democratic Governor Chet Culver," that he wants "reductions in pay and benefits," and supports taking away the union's right to negotiate over insurance benefits.]
