Health Care for America Now

Progressive Action for the Common Good

Welcome President Obama to Iowa City – Join us for a  Rally Celebrating Health Care Reform

Join us in Iowa City on Thursday, March 25th
as we Rally & Walk Together Celebrating Health Care Reform!

Whether You Have Tickets or Not!
This is our time to show the National Media How Iowans Say
 “THANK YOU! MR. PRESIDENT!”

We are going to gather at 10 am in Iowa City’s Downtown Pedestrian Mall
(at the corner of Dubuque & College near the Sheraton)
There will be signs or you can bring your own!
We’ll walk at an easy pace from there to the Field House to hear the President’s Address.
If you have tickets you’ll be there when the doors open at 11 am!

If you don’t have tickets…you are still a Vital Part of this Historic Day!
Holding your sign will counter the Tea Party Protestors…But More Important than that;
You will Stand for All of Those Lost as We Worked & Waited for this Day to Come.

Steve King Introduces Bill To Un-Insure Iowans

Steve King Introduces Bill To Un-Insure Iowans

Dailykos

So confident are Republicans that railing against the fascicommunazism of ObamaCare will be a political winner this November that at least one has introduced a bill to repeal it. This is, of course, the same Steve King (R-IA) who believes in a nation full of teabaggers where obscene epithets about race and orientation are permissible [no big deal], as is beating the political opposition to a pulp. [click here to read about King's visit to the teabaggers, encouraging them to beat us to a pulp]

The text of Rep. King's legislation is crystal-clear:

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

    SECTION 1. REPEAL OF PPACA.
Effective as of the enactment of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, such Act is repealed, and the provisions of law amended or repealed by such Act are restored or revived as if such Act had not been enacted.

So let's take a look at what King's bill would do:

    * Make a whole ton of young voters ineligible to be on their parents' insurance plans.
    * Allow health insurers to commit rescission of policyholders at any time.
    * Allow health insurers to deny coverage to anyone, including children, based on pre-existing conditions.
    * Allow health insurers to charge women higher rates simply because they're women.

Just to name a few. You go, Steve King! Run on that platform! Let's get our private industry deregulated to allow the free health insurance market to reign supreme once more! Yeah, you've got a winning message in November, all right.

Please help the 5th District Dems in
their quest to replace King in 2010.  Please consider
contributing any amount to the cause to help our progressive friends in western Iowa get organized.

From IDP-5's website:
We need a representative we can all be proud of, and someone who will represent EVERYONE in the 5th District – not just the far right wing. If you are tired of being embarrassed by Steve King – if you are ready to stand up for real representation in Washington, I urge you to help us elect a Democrat from the 5th District to Congress.

Your contribution – large or small – can help make all the difference in the world for the 2010 campaign. You can even make small, monthly AUTOMATIC contributions!

Can
YOU give $20 to help finance our
candidate in 2010?
