Valentine's Day Theater: 10th Anniversary of The Vagina Monologues

Valentine's Day Theater: 10th Anniversary of The Vagina Monologues

By Karen Kubby

The Vagina Monologues will be performed on Thursday, February 14 at 8pm in Theater B of the UI Theater Building and on Friday, February 15 at 8pm in the Auditorium of MERF, the Medical Education and Research Facility. This year is the 10th Anniversary of the Eve Ensler production raising awareness to end violence against women.

Proceeds from both performances will go to the Emma Goldman Clinic.

This year, the production is sponsored by Medical Students for Choice and the University of Iowa Theaters. Students from both organizations are performing, as well as Emma Goldman Clinic Executive Director, Karen Kubby, who stated, “This is an amazing piece of theater that has you laughing, crying, and craving intimate conversation after wards. It has been fun to be involved in this production again. It's different every year.”

Tickets are available in advance from the Emma Goldman Clinic or during the lunch hour in the MERF atrium as well as before each performance. Tickets are $5 with a request for a $10 donation. Contact Karen or Toni at (319) 337-2112 or go to the Emma Goldman clinic website.
